These factors all combine to form recovery points that minimize stress on your Nissan Frontier frame and provide reliable recoveries of heavily loaded vehicles in the worst of offroad situations. The recovery points then get welded to the in and outside of the bumper shell.
These recovery points are formed by laser cut steel plates that pass through the bumper shell and tie directly into the Nissan Frontier frame as part of the bumper’s main mounting brackets. We finished this bumper off with four integrated light buckets for surface mount LED pod lights (custom light cut outs available by request, such as a light bar version), an integrated winch mount to accept all standard 8-12k lb winches with removable solenoids, and heavy duty 9/16″ recovery points that are placed directly in line with the Nissan Frontier frame to eliminate any leveraging effects. If you are paying to have the bumper assembled by a welding shop, this significantly lowers the cost. This greatly reduces the amount of welding and grinding required by you and makes for a cleaner finished product. The main section of this bumper is also CNC-bent out of a single piece of 3/16″ P&O Steel. This skid plate is fully CNC-bent into shape and only requires two very small 1″ long welds to complete it. This bumper is also available with an optional lower skid plate that provides a smooth surface to slide across trail obstacles and protects your vulnerable engine bay parts. This distributes impact and winching forces evenly across your frame and makes for the stiffest mounting interface of any bumper on the market. This bumper uses a total of 8 factory mounting points to solidly mount it to the frame. We have thought ahead and specifically designed these bumper side wings to easily clear 35″ tires. This can create interference issues with the stock front bumper. We know that most Nissan Frontier owners want to run oversized tires and more aggressive wheel offsets. These side wings will take a serious hit without flexing or deflecting into the vehicle body. The side wings of this bumper wrap around to the front wheel wells and tie directly into the main frame mounting plates for true offroad protection. The bumper sits as high and tight to the front of the 2nd generation (2005-2020) Nissan Frontier as possible, while the angled lower faces will smoothly slide over obstacles and ensure you do not get hung up on the trail. (D22) Nissan Frontier off road Bumpers are also powder coated, unless stated otherwise, which offers a thick long lasting reliable finish which protects against rust and other signs of aging. They offer higher ground clearance as well as protection. These are also typically made of steel and bolt directly to the frame. These off road bumpers also have recovery points and typically include a tow hitch. (D22) Nissan Frontier 4x4 bumpers are also available for the rear. (D22) Nissan Frontier off road bumpers are bolted to the frame for maximum strength and reliability which works out well in these heavy duty use cases. This is done by attaching the winchline to a solid anchor point such as a large boulder, or tree and spooling the winching line. Installing a winch into your (D22) Nissan Frontier off road bumper will allow you to be more self sufficient in dislodging your own vehicle without another vehicles assistance. This way another vehicle can apply tension to the line in an attempt to dislodge the vehicle. The recovery points will allow you to attach a shackle at the end of a recovery line, to the bumper. Either way this is far more robust than plastic OEM bumpers that the (D22) Nissan Frontier comes with from the factory and ultimately serves as a form of front end protection. These off road bumpers are typically made of steel or in some cases, aluminum. When dropping off of ledges, or simply getting through trail obstacles, there is a high risk of your frontier hitting the front bumper. A (D22) Nissan Frontier (off road front bumper will increase your approach angle allowing you to get your tires on top of a trail obstacle instead of running into it.
